Effect of Heat Treatment on Fatigue Properties of Laser Deposition Repair TA15 Titanium Alloy
TA15 alloy was repaired by laser deposited repair with various heat treatments,and the fatigue crack nucleation and growth be-haviors were investigated.Fatigue fracture surfaces were analyzed using a scanning electron microscope.Results indicate that the median fa-tigue life of the annealed specimens can reach 40%of that of the forged base metal.The median life of the solid solution-aging specimen can reach 1.7 times that of the annealed state.The fatigue properties of repaired specimens are microstructure-sensitive.The crack nucleation re-gion is characterized by the crystallographic cleavage facets of α lamellae and tearing.After solid solution-aging treatment,the formation of martensite changes the orientation of layers,resulted in a slower crack propagation rate.
