Review of the Continuation Task in China in Recent 12 Years and Prospect for Such Work:A Case Study of the Core Journals
The study of continuation task has a history of nearly 12 years in China.In order to sort out domestic research on continuation task from 2012 to 2023.This paper selects"continuation task"from 15 core journals as the object,adopts the method of combining quantitative statistics and qualitative description,and analyzes the se-lected journals from five dimensions:general situation,theoretical development,research objects,research topics and research methods.The research findings are as follows:(1)The current theories about continuation task are relatively old and scarce,and the future theoretical research can be furthered from the perspectives of text analy-sis,learners'thinking process,and teaching methods of continuation task;(2)The research on the influencing factors of continuation task focuses on the reading text and task conditions.In the future,scholars can explore the influence of students'cognition and emotion,teachers'teaching strategies and other factors;(3)There is a lack of diversity in existing research methods and statistical tools about continuation task,so the credibility of the re-search can be enhanced by adding scientific and diversified research methods such as meta-analysis,eye track-ing experiments,virtual technology and corpus retrieval analysis in the future.In a word,the author hopes this study can offer some enlightenment and reference for the related researchers.
