A Corpus-Driven Translation Study of the Local Language of China:Taking Sun of China and The Village Teacher as Example
The scientific fictions by Liu Cixin have achieved a huge success in the international market,and their translations have thus attracted much attention from all walks of life.Liu's fictions are rooted in traditional Chi-nese culture and so contain many expressions from the local language of which the translation is greatly con-ducive to the spread of Chinese culture.Therefore,the current research established a parallel corpus and studied the translation techniques that the translators used for such expressions by analyzing the idioms,dialects and phrases as well as their translations,especially the motivations behind the translation technique selections,with a view to providing some reference for translating the local language in other literary works.
