This paper focuses on the 2007 film And the Spring Comes,directed by Gu Changwei,written by Li Qiang,and with Jiang Wenli as the protagonist.Based on a combination of Heidegger's concepts of state of being,Lacan's theory of the mirror stage,documentary aesthetics and the thought of feminist film criticism,this study researched into the existence of Wang Cai ling,a young woman in a small town and concluded that even if Wang Cailing failed to realize her dream in the end after running in and out of a a series of tough situations,it cannot be said that Wang Cailing's struggle was a failure,because she fulfilled Heidenegger's definition of lofty exis-tence:"a clearing in the forest":with her goodness and spiritual purity.
