Research on the Introduction of Jingdezhen Porcelain Making Technology by Wedgwood and Its Impact on the Invention of Bone Porcelain in England:A Study Centered on the Purchase of Sagger Bowls
This article examines the historical process of the introduction of Jingdezhen porcelain making technology by British porcelain maker Wedgwood in the 18th century,and compares and analyzes the similarities and differences between British bone porcelain and Jingdezhen porcelain in terms of raw material selection,formula technology,decorative style,etc.,exploring the great significance of this cross-border cultural and technological exchange event.The research shows that Wedgwood has mastered the essence of traditional Chinese porcelain making techniques through in-depth research on Jingdezhen porcelain and saggar,and creatively applied them to the invention and improvement of British bone porcelain,which not only promoted the rise and prosperity of the bone porcelain industry in the UK and even throughout Europe,but also reflected the important value of exchange and mutual learning between Chinese and Western porcelain making techniques.Wedgwood's practice of drawing on the strengths of others and innovating has provided valuable inspiration for the inheritance and development of traditional handicrafts in modern society.
