The Awakening of Collective Memory——The Practice of Video Installation in Yanwo Village
Collective memory is the shared memories,knowledge,and information possessed by social groups of a certain size,and these common things also coalesce these individuals who possess them into a whole.In the countryside,information shared within villagers becomes the main source of information,and the collective memory constructed by them is relatively stable.In the process of art intervention in the countryside,it is indispensable to excavate the characteristic culture of the target villages,and the collective memory of the villagers retains a part of the local characteristic folk culture.Collecting this kind of memory and transforming it can not only promote art creation,but also play the role of continuing the folk culture.In addition,video installation,as a relatively complex medium of expression,has the characteristic of maximizing the effect of the work with multi-level sensory stimulation.Through the collection of information in Yanwo Village and the reproduction of memorized scenes and events,the author creates a series of video installations.It is hoped that through those material and non-material documents,the audience's memories of the countryside and the homeland can be triggered.
