Experience of Using Smart Pillboxes Among Elderly Patients with Chronic Conditions in Communities Based on the Acceptance Model of Mobile Medical Application Technology:A Qualitative Study
Objective To understand the experience of using smart pillboxes among elderly patients with chronic conditions in communities and to provide new ideas for further increasing user stickiness and opti-mizing smart pillboxes.Methods Purposive sampling was used to select 16 elderly participants with chron-ic conditions for semi-structured interviews from six communities in Chongqing.The Colaizzi 7-step analy-sis method was used for content analysis.Results The experience of using smart pillboxes among elderly patients with chronic conditions in communities was extracted into four themes:"promotion of health"and"affirmation of the functions of smart pillboxes"at the level of"perceived usefulness";and"low willing-ness to accept smart pillboxes"and"technological anxiety"at the level of"impediment to usability".Con-clusions Nursing staff should actively break through the"information cocoon",enhance the scientific na-ture of the content,learn from the Europe,the US and other countries of self-reporting tools for adverse events to encourage patients to actively report,and enhance clinical nurses'awareness of protecting patient privacy.
