Mental Process During Post-traumatic Growth of Ovarian Cancer Patients:A Qualitative Study
Objective To explore the journey of post-traumatic growth of ovarian cancer patients,and to provide the basis for developing effective nursing interventions.Methods The hermeneutic phenomenologi-cal research analysis was conducted.Purposive sampling method were used to select 16 patients with ovari-an cancer in a tertiary hospital in Hefei for semi-structured interviews.Smith data analysis method was used for data collation,analysis and theme extraction.Results Five themes of the mental process during PTG were extracted,including the stage of white lies,the stage of the real world,the stage of collapse,the stage of survival and the stage of active growth.These five stages were not indispensable and there were overlaps among them.Conclusions The occurrence of PTG in ovarian cancer patients is a complex and dynamic process.Nurses need to master the psychological changes of PTG of ovarian cancer patients and build a comprehensive intervention strategy under the trinity support model of"Family-Patient-Medical care"according to the five stages of PTG,so as to help patients get out of the trough and realize self-growth in a better and quicker way.
