Experience and Needs of Patient Participation in Health Care with Lower Limb Bone Transport Treatment:A Qualitative Study
Objective To understand the experience and needs of patients with lower limb bone transport treatment participating in their own health care process,so as to provide a reference for the formulation of health care participation programs based on patients'demands.Methods From February to March 2023,descriptive phenomenological research method was used to conduct semi-structured interviews with 12 patients who underwent lower limb bone transport surgery in the Department of Traumatic Orthopedics in a tertiary A hospital in Guangdong Province,and the data were analyzed by Colaizzi 7-step analysis method.Results A total of three themes were extracted,including differentiation of participation attitude(active participation,passive acceptance),obstacles in the participation process(solidified role thinking,disease burden restriction,information dilemma perception,medical environment restriction),and multidimensional participation needs(information support needs,emotional support needs,transitional care needs).Conclusions There are still many problems in patient participation in health care with lower limb bone transport treatment.Healthcare professionals should help patients cor-rect the role of cognitive bias,improve patients'self-advocacy awareness and participation ability,pay attention to the obsta-cles in the process of patient participation,optimize the multiple support system,and promote patients'effective participation in their own health care during the perioperative and transitional periods.
