Core Competence of Nurse Practitioner:A Scoping Review
Objective To explore status quo of the core competence of Nurse Practitioner(NP)at home and abroad,so as to provide reference for defining the role of NP and promoting its professional development.Methods According to the research paradigm of scope review,the relevant researches on NP core competence in 11 Chinese and English databases such as CINAHL,Embase and PubMed were searched from January 2008 to August 2023.According to the 8 dimensions of the NP core competence framework of the United States,the scope of the included literature was reviewed by the content analysis method,and the items beyond the competence framework were set into other dimensions.Results A total of 29 literatures were included,with 784 core competencies extracted,including patient care 263(34%),practice-based learning and improvement 96(12%),systems-based practice 88(11%),multidisciplinary collaboration 82(10%),professionalism 82(10%),interpersonal and communication skills 65(8%),practical knowledge 55(7%),and personal and professional development 46(6%),and 7 other dimensions(1%).Conclusion There are differences in NP core competence among different countries,and China still lacks NP core competence framework.Experiences could be drawn from foreign NP core competence to develop NP core competence index system in line with our national conditions.
