Objective To explore the path analysis on the impact of emotional intelligence on social alienation in peri-toneal dialysis patients,and to provide a theoretical basis for alleviating social alienation in these patients.Methods The convenience sampling method was used to select 192 peritoneal dialysis patients in a tertiary A hospital in Zhengzhou from December 2022 to March 2023 as the study subjects.Questionnaires were administered using the emotional intelli-gence scale,self-acceptance questionnaire,perceived social support scale and general alienation scale.The mediation model was constructed and tested.Results The social alienation score of peritoneal dialysis patients was(42.01±3.15).Emotional intelligence was negatively correlated with social alienation(r=-0.616,P<0.001).Self-acceptance and perceived social support played a fully mediating role between emotional intelligence and social alienation in peritoneal dialysis patients(β=-0.666,β=-0.716,P<0.05).Conclusions The social alienation of peritoneal dialysis patients is at a high level,and emotional intelligence can influence the social alienation of peritoneal dialysis patients through self-acceptance and perceived social support.Therefore,healthcare professionals should pay attention to the emotional intelligence of peritoneal dialysis patients,and effectively intervene in the self-acceptance and perceived social support in order to reduce the social alienation of the patients.
