Serving the National Demand of"Telling China's Stories Well"and Cultivating Foreign Language Talents in the New Era
Telling China's stories well is an important task to enhance China's international communication capabilities. This paper first proposes optimization paths around three issues:"what to tell","who to tell"and"how to tell",that is,selecting content that highlights the advantages and characteristics of Chinese civilization, coordinating multiple story-tellers,and deepening two-way communication through integrating discourses. This paper then discusses the New Orientation of Foreign Language Education and cultivating university students'international communication competencies. It is argued that the reform of a talent cultivation model for foreign language majors with a focus on telling China's stories well is in line with the goal and requirements of the New Liberal Arts construction, and embodies innovations in concepts, content and mechanism of China's foreign language education.
