Professor Luo's new book, consisting of four parts of Basil Worsfold'original,Yan Fu's adapted translation, his own full translation and his long introductory remarks, provides a good example for a trans-century study of translation between the two ends of the 20th century.Starting from analyzing the historical background of the two versions and focusing on the three terms of Tongquan/introduction,Meishu/fine arts, and Dazhi/meaning conveying, the present paper makes a comparative study with the span of the century. And on that basis,it explores further into the term of intertextuality in translation.
