斯托与其小说《汤姆叔叔的小屋》的跨大西洋之旅,不仅促进了美国的废奴主义事业,也进一步提升了她的国际影响力.这部在19世纪出版史上创下奇迹的作品不仅引发了英国社会关于英美政治、文化、社会以及文学的争议,也使我们看到了一部文学文本在影响大西洋两岸社会和文化发展方面发挥的巨大作用.
Abstract
The Atlantic trip of Stowe and her Uncle Tom's Cabin not only promoted American Abolitionist cause,but also further enhanced her international influence.This novel which created a miracle in the 19th-century publication history not only engendered controversies over British and American politics,culture,society and literature,but also shows us how a literary text could affect the social and cultural development across the Atlantic.
