A Study of the Effects of Phonological Loop on Trilingual Chinese-English Reading Comprehension,
This study adopts the unattended speech and articulatory suppression paradigms to investigate the processing and storage patterns of phonological loop in Chinese-English reading comprehension among Chinese minority trilingual learners. There are three groups of experiments:Experiment 1 and Experiment 2 are set in Chinese and English reading environments, investigating the influence of keyword substitution interference on phonological store and articulatory rehearsal structure in L2 and L3 reading respectively. Results show that the influence range of interference factors in the third reading environment is higher than that in the second language environment.Experiment 3 is set in a trilingual reading environment with background information in the second language, which aims to examine the mediating accessibility of the second language information in the third language reading. The result reveals that the interlanguage intervention information in the second language is positively correlated with the efficiency of the third language reading, and there is the transmission and processing of the second language information in the third language reading. This study verifies the influence of phonological loop in L2 and L3 reading comprehension of trilingual learners and the representation of L2 information in L3 reading, which is of enlightening significance for the reading teaching of the Chinese minority trilingual learners.
