This paper explores the expression of stances and implementation strategies in the"request-refusal"interaction in South Korean diplomatic discourse based on the"stance triangle"framework.The"request-refusal"diplomatic discourse interaction is understood as an organic whole that integrates the three behaviors of request initiation, refusal response, and divergent stances of both parties.Stance subject1—the reporter, mainly conveys the request intention in the form of questions and uses means such as paraphrasing and quoting to elicit the speaking stance.Stance subject2—the Foreign Ministry spokesperson, tends to use different refusal strategies to indicate the response stance.Through evaluating the objects and positioning the subjects, the participants in the dialogue construct a divergent stance, thereby achieving different political communication goals.
