A Study on the Korean Translation of Image Metaphors in The Analects of Confucius from the Perspective of Conceptual Integration Theory
In order to explore the Korean translation strategy of Image metaphors in The Analects of Confucius,we examine different Korean versions based on the theory of Conceptual Integration, which shows that the Korean translation of the metaphors in The Analects of Confucius involves three rounds of Conceptual Integration. The first round occurs in the cognitive interpretation stage, including image metaphor deconstruction and essence deconstruction. The second round occurs in the lexical-level translation stage, including four types of reconstruction, namely apposition mapping, dislocation mapping, addition mapping and vacancy mapping. The third round occurs in the sentence-level translation stage, combining contextual information to build an Extended Conceptual Integration network, proposing three types of translation and forming a new translation idea, involving direct correlation, context compensation and context manifestation.
