A Multidimensional Contrastive Analysis of Register Variation in Weibo and Twitter of Chinese and American Corporations
In this paper,a categorical multi-dimensional analysis is designed to compare between Weibo posts of Chinese corporations and tweets of American corporations.It is found that their difference mainly lies in the dimension of interaction versus informational narration,specifically dimensions of caring-interaction versus corporate-operation narration,and social-responsibility narrative versus advisory-interaction.It is shown that Weibo posts and tweets are the hybrids of interaction and informational narration.Weibo posts tend to be more interactive,while tweets are more likely to be informational narrative.The hybrids reflect not only the informative and narrative nature of business discourse,but also the interactive nature of online discourse.
