The Dialogical Oral Informant/Author Relationship and the Nonfiction/Nontrue Paradox of Latin American Testimonio Genre
Since the 1960s in Latin America, there has been a nonfiction writing trend named testimonio that drew critics'attention that concerns not only with literature but also with a widely interdisciplinary realm including anthropology, sociology, politics and history, etc. The main purpose of this genre is to reveal the traumatic experiences such as discrimination, injustice, exploitation, oppression, abuse, and even massacre of the subaltern as the representative of his(or her)community. The interaction form and dialogical relationship between the subaltern informant who contributes with his or her oral narration as a witness of social events that should not be forgotten and the intellectual editor who generally appears as the author of the testimonio told in the first person of the oral informant also garnered critical attention. It is noticed that the interaction of"oral informant"and"author"in and out a testimonio text has greatly affected the trust and acceptance of its inherent"nonfiction/nontrue"paradox.
