Design of a Complex Structure with Supersize Circular Ring Supported by Four Towers
A landmark building has been newly built in the Lingang New Area of Shanghai,which consists of four 46.8 m high towers supporting a super large circular ring with a diameter of 150m and a height of 8.6m,forming a complex structure.The main characteristics of the structure are that the inner side of the ultra large diameter circular ring adopts an inverted triangular spatial truss,the floor beam adopts a variable cross-section cantilever steel beam,and the four towers adopt a steel frame-BRB-BRW structure system.The connection between the ultra large circular ring and the four supporting towers adopts a diagonal hinge,and another diagonal sliding supports with viscous dampers.The cross-section of the ultra large diameter circular ring is a C-shaped section with an outer opening due to the requirements of the architect,and how to overcome the torsional effect caused by the outer opening of the circular ring is the difficulty in design.The main work contains structural design and calculation analysis of the supporting tower,structural selection and torsional performance research of the ultra large diameter circular ring,connection design between the circular ring and the supporting tower,calculation analysis of the overall structure composed of the supporting towers and the circular ring,and elastic-plastic time history analysis of the overall structure under rare earthquakes.The design and research results of this project can provide reference for similar engineering design such as circular ring structure,multiple towers supported upper structure,etc.
