AN REVIEW IN SPECIFIC BUTYRYLCHOLINESTERASE PROBES
Butyrylcholinesterase(BChE)degrades acetylcholine,a neurotransmitter associated with learning and memory, into choline and acetic acid to maintain homeostasia of the cholinergic system in mammals.BChE produced by the liver is distributed in a variety of tissues through the blood circulation, which has extensive pharmacological activities and can be used as a biomarker to reflect the liver health or disease status. Therefore, detecting the activity of BChE and understanding its distribution or expression in vivo is the basis of carrying out relevant researches.Herein, recently reported specific fluorescent or chemiluminescent probes for quantitative detection and real-time monitoring of BChE are briefly summarized.
