COMPREHENSIVE EVALUATION OF CADMIUM AND LEAD TOLERANCE IN THE SEED GERMINATION AND SEEDLING GROWTH OF MULBERRY
In order to explore the effects of cadmium(Cd)and lead(Pb)stress on the seed germination and seedling growth of mulberry and to screen the germplasm resources with high resistance.Zheza-1(ZZ-1)~Zheza-9(ZZ-9)(9 kinds of mulberry hybrid varieties)were used as materials. The indexes of seed germination and seedling growth of mulberry were determined by Cd(0,25,100,400,1 000 mg/L)and Pb(0,250,500,1 000,2 000 mg/L)at different concentrations. The results showed that the mulberry seed germination were not significantly inhibited by Cd and Pb at the low concentrations;but when the single Cd concentrations were more than 100 mg/L,and the single Pb concentrations were more than 250 mg/L,the seed germination index, seed vigor index, hypocotyl and radicle length of 9 mulberry seeds decreased significantly with the increase of heavy metal ion concentration. There were differences in the resistance of 9 varieties to Cd and Pb.Principal component analysis and membership function method were used to comprehensively evaluate the resistance of 9 varieties to Cd and Pb,among which ZZ-6 had the strongest resistance to Cd and Pb,and was expected to be popularized as a planting variety of mulberry in agricultural production to repair the soil contaminated by Cd and Pb.
