Optimization of the Formula of an Air Antibacterial Agent of Traditional Chinese Medicine Based on Design-Expert
Objective:To develop an effective and broad-spectrum air disinfectant using volatile oil of traditional Chinese medicine as raw materials. Methods:Three volatile oils, clove(Syzygium aromaticum),mugwort(Artemisia argyi),and lemongrass(Cymbopogon citratus),were selected. The D-optimal mixture design was used in Design-Expert 12.0 and a total of 16 runs were formulated. The planktonic bacteria in the canteen of our university was sampled.Added antibacterial agent and incubation, the number of colonies was counted. The formula designed by the software and fitting equation between the number of colonies and the proportion of each volatile oil formula was then fitted. Finally, the proportion of the optimal antibacterial efficacy formula was calculated by software, then verified by laboratory test and field test. Results:The fitting equation between the number of colonies(Y)and the proportion of each volatile oil formula was Y=17.60A+53.01B +36.76C-106.11AB-84.87AC-63.93BC+782.79A2BC-1178.89AB2C +413.15ABC2.The antibacterial interaction between clove and mugwort/lemongrass volatile oil had a significant effect on the number of colonies(p<0.05).The final ratio of clove, mugwort, and lemongrass volatile oils was 45.2:41.6:13.2.The antibacterial efficacy of the formula was verified by laboratory test and field test. Conclusion:The antibacterial effect of volatile oil of traditional Chinese medicine can be significantly increased after compound. The formula of air antibacterial agent has obvious antibacterial effect, aromatic and easy to be accepted by people, and has good market prospects and promotion value.
