Study on Adsorption of Pb2+ by β-Cyclodextrin Grafted Chitosan
β-Cyclodextrin Grafted Chitosan(CS-CD)contains-OH and a large amount of free-NH2,which leads to the formation of cage-like molecules with similar network structure by ion bond or hydrogen bond. The effects of pH,amount of CS-CD and initial concentration of Pb2+ on the adsorption of Pb2+ by CS-CD were studied. The results showed that the adsorption of Pb2+ was the best at pH= 6.The adsorption was facilitated by increasing the contact surface area of the reactants, and the increase of initial concentration was equivalent to the increase of the amount of reactants,it is beneficial to the adsorption reaction and to the adsorption in a certain temperature range. The results also show that the adsorption of Pb2+ on CS-CD accords with the quasi-second-order kinetic equation, and the free energy of the adsorption reaction becomes less than 0 kJ/mol,indicating that the reaction is spontaneous. The results of XPS analysis further showed that the reaction was a chemical adsorption process.
