The Effect of Carbon Addition Methods on the Properties of Ultrafine WC Powders
In order to improve the properties of ultrafine WC powders, particularly to reduce their pressing pressure, this paper investigates the effect of the carbon addition methods on the properties of ultrafine WC powders. The results show that, the type of carbon, the type of carbon dispenser, the carbon dispensing time, and the addition sequence of the grain growth inhibitor chromium carbide all have significant effects on the properties of WC powders. The type of carbon affects the total carbon and oxygen content of WC,but has no significant effect on the pressing pressure of the powders;the type of carbon dispenser has no significant effect on the total carbon and oxygen content of WC,but compared with the horizontal carbon dispenser, the particle size of the WC prepared by the vertical carbon dispenser is smaller and the pressing pressure is larger;the time of carbon dispensing has no significant effect on the total carbon, oxygen content, and particle size, but a longer time of carbon dispensing will increase the pressing pressure;the order of chromium carbide addition has no significant effect on the total carbon, and the order of carbon addition before chromium carbide addition has no significant effect on the total carbon, but the order of carbon addition has a significant effect on the total carbon. There is no obvious effect on the total carbon, but adding chromium carbide before will increase the oxygen content of WC,reduce the particle size of WC powders, and increase the pressing pressure.
