Research Progress of m6A methyltransferase-like3 in colorectal cancer
Colorectal cancer is a common human malignant tumour.N6-methyladenine(m6A)modification is considered to be the major internal epigenetic modification in eukaryotic mRNA,the level of m6A modification is dynamic and reversible. It plays a key determining role in the regulation of splicing, translation and degradation of post-transcriptional mRNA.The m6A methyltransferase plays a cancer-promoting or tumor-suppressing role in tumor development, and it has the potential function to become a therapeu-tic target for malignant tumors.METTL3 is the most important m6A methyltransferase, which several studies have shown to play a role in promoting colorectal cancer through several mechanisms. In this review,we summarized the role and related mechanisms of METTL3 on the initiation and progression of colorectal cancer, for providing a basis for further searching for biomarkers and thera-peutic targets.
