Study on the influence of valve opening on hydraulic performance of pressure recovery hydropower turbine
To investigate the influence of valve opening on the hydraulic performance of a pressure recovery hydropower turbine, the study focused on a pressure recovery hydropower turbine at the Xiaojia River Sewage Treatment Plant.Three valves with different openings were selected for comparison.Numerical simulations of the entire flow passage were conducted using the standard k-ε turbulence model in Ansys CFX software. The study aimed to reveal the relationship between valve opening and the hydraulic performance of the pressure recovery hydropower turbine. The results showed that the effect of valve opening on the external characteristics of the pressure recovery hydropower turbine followed a non-linear relationship. When the valve opening was less than 50°,changes in the opening significantly affected the head, but as the opening increased, the influence gradually decreased.Additionally,an increase in flow rate widened the differences in the external characteristics among different valve openings. The high-turbulence region was mainly distributed near the draft tube and the valve. With an increase in flow rate, the high-turbulence region near the valve of the pressure recovery hydropower turbine expanded, while the high-turbulence region near the draft tube decreased.Under the same operating conditions,a larger valve opening resulted in fewer high-turbulence regions within the flow passage, while an increase in flow rate increased the differences in turbulence characteristics caused by the valve opening.
