Effect of partially filled metal foam on the solidification performance of ice storage spheres
In order to improve the energy storage efficiency in the accumulator and solve the problem of poor heat transfer effect caused by low thermal conductivity of Phase Change Material(PCM),metal foam with high thermal conductivity was added to the phase change material to accelerate the solid-liquid phase transformation process.By means of numerical simulation, the comprehensive performance of the metal foam filled ice ball was analyzed. The results show that the full filling of metal foam saves more than 81%of the solidification time. The optimal filling radius ratio is 9/13.
