Case analysis of soil and groundwater pollution remediation at a site in Shanghai city
Site investigations and human health risk assessments have indicated that the soil at a certain industrial plot in Shanghai is contaminated with arsenic, and the groundwater is contaminated with arsenic, benzo(a)pyrene, and petroleum hydrocarbons. The concentrations of these pollutants exceed the acceptable levels for human health risk, necessitating remediation. The soil remediation technology employed in-situ solidification or stabilization techniques;arsenic in the groundwater was remediated using extraction and chemical oxidation;benzo(a)pyrene and total petroleum hydrocarbons were remediated using a combination of multi-phase extraction and oxidation technology. The entire remediation process was subject to phased acceptance and on-site sampling monitoring. The monitoring results met the evaluation criteria, and the remediation project was assessed as qualified.
