The Evolutionary Characteristics and Service Countermeasures of Book Borrowing for Doctoral Students in Universities——Taking Peking University as an Example
Doctoral students represent a key user group for academic libraries.Understanding the statistical charac-teristics and evolving patterns of their borrowing behavior can inform targeted library services. This study analyzes the overall characteristics of doctoral students'borrowing behavior at Peking University, and focuses on variations in average borrowing per capita across different departments.Additionally, the study establishes an evolutionary model of borrowing volume and an information entropy model for the disciplinary categories of borrowed books. Results in-dicate that doctoral students predominantly borrow classic academic books, both in Chinese and English, authored by prominent scholars and published by reputable academic publishers.Borrowing behavior throughout the doctoral study period exhibits a fluctuating pattern. To enhance service efficiency, libraries should consider establishing spe-cialized reading rooms tailored to the needs of doctoral students from various disciplines and facilitating reading ac-tivities.
