The research surveyed the application of Metaverse technology in American city libraries,and found that 81.3％of 150 libraries used Metaverse related technology,of which 3D technology was the most widely used,in-cluding 3D printing and modeling services;Virtual reality(VR)and augmented reality(AR)technologies are used for virtual tours,virtual exhibitions and VR/AR experiences;Internet of Things(IoT)technology are used for RFID self-checkout and book location services.The results of the survey show that the budget and the service popu-lation of the library have a weak influence on the application of the metaverse related technologies,and the techni-cal literacy of librarians and the willingness to accept new technologies are the key factors.The construction of do-mestic smart library should pay attention to the cultivation of librarian's technical ability,introduce mature technol-ogy and equipment to innovate the service field,and do a good job in physical space planning.
