The purpose is to explore the teaching reform mode and methods of product design courses in the context of the new liberal arts,in order to truly achieve the goal of cultivating applied talents in product design.Taking the profes-sional skills course"Furniture Materials and Structure"in the Product Design major of Taizhou University as an exam-ple,the course positioning is determined by analyzing the characteristics and standards of talent required in the furniture industry,as well as the nature of the course.The diversified teaching mode innovation of"integration of art and indus-try"is actively explored.Exploring innovative methods for applied curriculum teaching models around the restructuring of the curriculum content system,student characteristics,and ideological and political elements of the curriculum.Sum-marize the diversified teaching guarantee methods for the integration of"art and engineering"from the perspectives of teaching environment,teaching resources,and teaching staff.Through the teaching reform and practice of the integra-tion of"art and engineering"courses,the quality of cultivating applied talents in product design has been effectively im-proved,and the teaching effect has been significantly improved.It also provides reference opinions for the teaching of similar courses in the future.
