Analysis of Semantic Difference in Furniture Style Evaluation
In order to study the evaluation of furniture styles by modem consumers and the influence of furniture design elements on the evaluation results,a study was conducted on different styles of furniture using correlation analysis and variance analysis based on the semantic difference method.Common emotional vocabulary used in furniture evaluation was extracted,a 5-level semantic difference scale was established and used to create a questionnaire distributed to partic-ipants.The ratings of participants for different styles of furniture were analyzed to summarize their evaluations of furni-ture styles and to calculate the ranking of factors influencing emotional evaluations of furniture.Chinese Ming and Qing furniture correspond to the classical feelings,Baroque and Rococo furniture correspond to expensive,exquisite,classi-cal,and luxurious feelings, while new Chinese-style furniture and Nordic-style furniture have similar evaluations,cor-responding to practical, comfortable, convenient, and modem feelings. The only significant difference is in the sense of familiarity, and future-style furniture corresponds to decorative and special feelings. The factor that has the greatest im-pact on emotional evaluation of furniture is the simplicity of the furniture's design, while the factor with the least impact is the furniture's sense of time.
