Application of the Kano-FAST Model in the Study of Outdoor Furniture Needs on Campus
In order to solve the problem of single functionality of campus outdoor furniture and improve user experience,the application of the Kano-FAST model in the research of campus outdoor furniture needs was proposed.This can accu-rately grasp the real needs of users for the improvement design of campus outdoor furniture.Taking Nanjing Forestry University as an example,through on-site observations,interviews,and other methods,the existing problems and needs of outdoor furniture on the campus were analyzed.The KJ method was used to summarize the needs and classify the 16 user needs obtained into dimensions.The Kano model was introduced to prioritize the obtained needs,ultimately select-ing 2 essential needs,2 expected needs,and 7 attractive needs.The FAST functional analysis method was used to map the needs selected by the Kano model to design elements,and the FAST functional tree was established.The case study of outdoor furniture needs at Nanjing Forestry University demonstrated that user research based on the Kano-FAST mod-el can help designers clarify the importance of different needs for campus outdoor furniture,better address user pain points in need transformation,which can provide ideas for the future campus outdoor furniture design research.
