Sound Enhancement Design Strategies for Aging-Friendly Smart Home Terminal Based on Cognitive Load Theory
To explore design strategies for sound enhancement in aging-friendly smart home terminal interface to opti-mize cognitive load for elderly users during interface interactions.Through a literature review, the current progress and direction of sound-enhanced interaction are clarified.Desktop research is conducted to analyze the sensory and cognitive characteristics of the elderly,as well as to outline the scenarios of elderly home tasks.Market research is carried out to analyze the types of terminal devices and functional modules in smart home terminal interfaces.Based on a comprehen-sive analysis of users, smart terminals, and task scenarios,an aging-friendly smart terminal interface sound enhancement interaction design cognitive model is proposed, and sound enhancement design principles are formulated. Finally, four sound intervention paths are suggested:providing operational clues, enhancing information representation, improving op-erational status feedback, and enhancing information reminder alerts. It is proposed that reasonable sound enhancement can provide cognitive assistance for the elderly, thereby balancing the interface cognitive load.
