Design of Elderly-friendly Furniture Based on KANO Model
As society ages,the furniture industry faces an urgent need to create more comfortable living conditions for the elderly,particularly those living in empty-nest households.This study focuses on the empty-nest elderly population as the target user group.In the initial stage of the study,target user needs were obtained through online and offline inves-tigations of elderly furniture products,user surveys,and interviews.The KJ affinity diagram method was employed to screen,categorize,and classify the user needs.Concurrently,a KANO model questionnaire was designed to determine the attributes of the target user needs,and a four-quadrant ranking was used to assess the importance of these needs.Fi-nally,a user needs model was established based on the functional requirements of the target user,and chair furniture suit-able for the elderly was designed,considering structural,material,and styling requirements.This approach can better ad-dress the challenge of elderly furniture being uncomfortable with aging,and the exploration of furniture products that align more closely with the needs of the elderly holds significant practical relevance.
