Design of Smart Medicine Cabinet for the Elderly Based on Service Design
Non-adherence to medication regiments not only adversely impacts the health and well-being of the elderly population,but also increases associated medical costs.This study approached the problem from the perspective of user needs and employed service design methodologies to develop a smart medication management solution.The proposed solution encompasses the entire process from prescription to medication consumption.By enhancing elderly individuals'compliance and proactivity in taking their prescribed medications,the solution aims to address this critical issue.Various service design tools,such as user interviews,personas,flow diagrams,and service blueprints,were utilized to deeply understand the needs,behaviors,preferences,habits,and barriers faced by the elderly in managing their medications within their daily lives.The smart medicine cabinet features personalized reminders,intuitive interfaces,and functional-ities to ensure correct dosage,provide timely alerts,and track medication plans.These features are designed to signifi-cantly improve medication adherence and initiative among the elderly population.Through the service design process,the special needs of the elderly for a home-based smart medicine management solution were analyzed,with particular at-tention paid to user psychological factors.The design was approached from the perspective of the user to address this crit-ical healthcare challenge effectively.
