The Input Servitization of Manufacturing and the Transformation of Chinese Enterprises'Export Trade Modes
Accelerating the transformation of trade modes is of great significance to the optimization of export trade structure and the realization of international circulation in safety, efficiency and stability.Using the matching data of Chinese Industrial Enterprise Database,Chinese Customs Trade Database and World Input-Output Database from 2001 to 2013,this paper empirically analyzes the impact of manufacturing input servitization on the transformation of export trade modes of Chinese manufacturing enterprises. The research shows that the input servitization of manufacturing significantly reduces the proportion of processing trade, and increases the proportion of ordinary trade through the transmission path of cost adjustment and innovation incentives, which is conducive to the transformation and upgrading of the export trade modes of Chinese manufacturing enterprises.Heterogeneity analysis finds that the input servitization of manufacturing has differential impacts across different service factor inputs, different service factor sources, different manufacturing firms, and different periods.Eventually, optimizing the domestic institutional environment, deepening the opening up of the service industry and enhancing the global value chains position of Chinese manufacturing industry are critical strategic policies to leverage the trade transformation effect of input servitization of manufacturing.
