New Quality Productive Forces and Intra-firm Pay Gap:Based on the Perspective of Sharing Development Achievements
Developing new quality productive forces is the way to achieve Chinese path to modernization and provides important supports for achieving common prosperity.We use data from listed firms from 2011 to 2022 to study the impact of developing new quality productive forces on the gap in average salary between management and employees.The results show that with the development of new quality productive forces,the intra-firm pay gap significantly decreases,which promotes the achievement of common prosperity.The results of heterogeneity analysis show that effects are more evident in SOEs,firms with higher excessive compensation of executives,and firms without digital technology management positions.The discussion of potential mechanisms show that new quality productive forces improves the overall operational level of the industry,increases the employees right,and constrains the power of management to reduce the intra-firm pay gap.This study provides micro-empirical evidence and policy enlightenment for China to better cultivate and develop new quality productive forces and promote the realization of common prosperity.
