Frontier Technology Industry Growth:A Literature Review of Comparative Advantage
Comparative advantage is an important factor affecting industrial competitiveness, whether to follow comparative advantage or to violate comparative advantage can create and maintain industrial competi-tiveness is the core issue in the field of industrial economy.Combining with the characteristics of cutting-edge technology industries and the progress of international trade theories, this paper reviews the product spatial re-search literature and economic geography research literature related to comparative advantage and industrial competitiveness, and finds that following comparative advantage and violating comparative advantage play a synergistic role in creating and maintaining industrial competitiveness, while ignoring the strength of either par-ty cannot improve industrial competitiveness. The reason is that participation in the international division of la-bor based on comparative advantages can promote capital accumulation and factor endowment upgrading, while the unequal surplus distribution under the unequal international distribution system will widen the gap between developing countries and developed countries. To achieve convergence, developing countries need to violate further from the existing comparative advantages to narrow the gap with developed countries. However,it is the existing comparative advantage that determines the violation distance that can form the industrial competitive-ness.The more advanced the existing factor endowment means the stronger the learning ability, which deter-mines that the new industry that can form the competitiveness can violate further from the existing comparative advantage. Therefore,on the basis of following comparative advantages to promote the continuous upgrading of factor endowments, the improvement of industrial competitiveness is to gradually violate further from the exist-ing comparative advantages with the improvement of learning ability.Only by following comparative advantages can regions within a country improve the competitiveness of the whole big country.
