Research on the Influence of Overseas Background Differences of Top Executives on Innovation of Multinational Enterprises——Based on the Dual Perspectives of Environmental Uncertainty and Internal Control
The superior resources such as knowledge and experience accumulated by executives from o-verseas study or work experience interact with the external environment,uncertainty and internal control of en-terprises,which will have a significant impact on the innovation of multinational enterprises.Selecting 899 Chinese A-share multinational enterprises from 2010 to 2021 as research samples,this paper analyzes the im-pact of overseas background of senior management teams on the innovation of multinational enterprises,as well as the moderating role of environmental uncertainty and internal control.The empirical results show that the o-verseas background of executives will promote the innovation of multinational enterprises;Overseas background differences will affect the innovation investment of multinational enterprises,and returnees from developed countries or regions will stimulate higher innovation investment of multinational enterprises;Executives with o-verseas backgrounds in less developed countries or regions(specialty/pillar industries)and those with overseas backgrounds in developed countries or regions have little difference in the impact on innovation output of multi-national enterprises,and both of them have obvious promotion effects.At the same time,environmental uncer-tainty will restrain the influence of overseas background of senior management team on multinational enterprise innovation,while internal control will strengthen the influence of overseas background of senior management team on multinational enterprise innovation.
