Empowered Women:Online Education and Female Labor Participation
The widespread use of digital technology has had a significant impact on women's employment decisions, and online education is a deep integration of digital technology and education. Its impact on women's labor participation is an important topic in the field of labor economics.Based on the CFPS data, this study explores in depth the impact of children's participation in online courses on women's labor force participa-tion in China. The results show that children's participation in online courses significantly increases the labor force participation rate of urban women and working hours, but has no impact on rural women. In addition,a-bove effects vary based on education level and family's income.Mechanism analysis reveals that online educa-tion significantly reduces the probability of urban women giving up their jobs due to family responsibilities. Therefore, the digital technology should be fully utilized to enhance women's labor participation, improve their employment status, and optimize the allocation of labor resources.
