Analyzing China's Social Reproduction Imbalance:Insights for Building Domestic Circulation from a Marxist Perspective
Drawing on Marx's social reproduction theory,it's evident that social reproduction's balance hinges on the first sector's accumulation rate, with long-term equilibrium characterized by equal growth rates in both sectors.Analyzing five input-output tables from China's 31 provinces allows for the calculation of key indicators for both sectors and facilitates two empirical studies. The first examines China's social reproduction balance conditions and long-term equilibrium, while the second investigates how to achieve social reproduction balance and correct long-term imbalances in China using Dynamic Panel Data(DPD)models.Findings reveal insufficient accumulation nationally and in the eastern and central regions, but excessive accumulation in the western region, indicating unmet social reproduction balance conditions.Additionally, the growth rate of the second sector is con-sistently lower than that of the first across all regions, suggesting a chronic imbalance in China's social reproduction.Addressing both the balance conditions and long-term equilibrium corrections fundamentally involves enhancing the capital structures of both sectors. Moreover, rectifying social reproduction imbalance aligns with the goal of bolstering the domestic cycle, showcasing an inherent logical consistency between these objectives.
