Spatial and Temporal Evolution Characteristics and Influencing Mechanism of Urban-Rural Integration in China
Taking the connotation of integrated urban-rural development as the point of entry, this paper constructs a measurement system for China's urban-rural integration development, encompassing the dimensions of essential elements, public services, spatial and ecological integration. It explores the heterogeneity and dynamic evolution of the development levels across four regions, from inter-regionally and intra-regionally.Furthermore,it investigates the core factors affecting urban-rural integration development and nonlinear effects. The research reveals, during the sample period, the level of urban-rural integration development in China generally shows an upward trend.Spatially,it presents a descending distribution from the eastern, central, northeastern,to the western regions. The differences in the level of urban-rural integration development between inter-regional and intra-regional are significant, with inter-regional differences being the main source of overall disparity. These differences can be reduced by improving the level of ecological integration and factor integration within and between regions. The enhancement of economic development level, industrial structure upgrading, and the improvement of technological innovation level can effectively promote the level of urban-rural integration development.Accordingly,it is important to focus on the shortcomings in the process of urban-rural integration development, strengthen the integration of urban and rural elements, improve the construction of urban and rural infrastructure, and enhance the spatial connections between urban and rural areas. At the same time, each region should rely on rural revitalization and new urbanization strategies, formulate urban and rural development policies according to local conditions, and thus promote the urban-rural integration development.
