The Pathway of Coping with Aging to Expand Domestic Demand——Based on the View of the Relationship between Elderly Care and Household Consumption
Enabling the expansion of domestic demand by actively responding to aging is an important practical issue for coordinating the response to aging and smoothing the domestic cycle.This paper uses CFPS panel data to analyze the relationship between elderly care mode and household consumption.The results show that family elderly care can release consumption potential which is more significantly in rural areas and low-income families.The depth and difficulty of elderly care can also affect the role of elderly care in promoting family consumption.Elderly care affects consumption decisions by optimizing the allocation of family resources,and reduces the level of precautionary savings by stabilizing income and expenditure expectations.It is important to give full play to the advantages of Chinese traditional virtues of filial piety and respect for the elderly,we should consolidate the fundamental position of family elderly care through the provision of tax credits,financial subsidies and the construction of a community support system.
