Harmony and Coexistence between Humanity and Nature:Measurement of the Benefits and Potential Analysis of Regional Natural Capital Investment in China
Based on the generalized national wealth framework,this paper gives the sustainable and unsustainable path of development,and defines the sustainability standard of strong and weak development from the perspective of natural capital.Under the"multi input and multi output"scenario,the green total factor productivity GTFP is calculated based on the Malmquist Luenberger index of non radial SBM distance function under variable return to scale VRS condition.From the changes of GTFP before and after incorporating natural capital,this paper reveals the impact of natural capital investment on development sustainability(NIE).This paper builds a panel measurement model,reveals the evolution mode and influencing factors of NIE in various provinces and regions by systematic GMM method,and explores its promotion path based on the development reality of China.The results show that China meets the requirements of sustainable development.There are certain differences in NIE among different provinces and regions.There is still significant investment potential for natural capital.Due to the differences of resource endowment and development level,there are some differences in NIE among provinces and regions,and there is no significant convergence trend.The change of technical efficiency is the primary factor leading NIE.China's NIE presents an"N"evolution model with economic development,the turning point is closely related to the stage of economic development,and the economic development level required for the turning point of developed provinces is higher.The moderate growth of population,the adjustment of industrial structure and the improvement of environmental quality can significantly promote NIE.Saving non-renewable natural resources,increasing government consumption and promoting the process of urbanization also have a good effect on the improvement of NIE in some areas,while excessive dependence on foreign trade will have a negative impact on NIE.In view of this,we should strengthen the investment and protection of natural capital,promote the upgrading of emerging technology industries,and optimize the sustainable development model of regional natural capital.
