Local Quality,Enterprise Agglomeration Behavior and Urban Innovation Capacity
From the perspective of enterprise agglomeration behavior,this paper uses the panel data of 284 cities in China from 2010 to 2019 to explore the influence of local quality on urban innovation ability and its internal mechanism.The results show that local quality has a significant role in promoting urban innovation ability.This conclusion is still valid after alleviating endogeneity and multiple robustness tests.The mediation effect test finds that enterprise agglomeration plays a mediating role in driving urban innovation through local quality.That is,local quality can influence urban innovation capability by attracting enterprise agglomeration.Heterogeneity analysis shows that compared with large cities and central cities with higher economic development level,the local quality of small and medium-sized cities and non-central cities with low economic development level has a more significant effect on urban innovation ability.Therefore,cities,especially small and medium-sized cities,should vigorously promote local quality construction,accelerate industrial cluster construction,leverage the innovative capabilities of agglomeration economy,and promote urban innovation capacity.
