Digital Empowerment:How Internet Use Can Drive the Transition of Agricultural Land Transfer Markets——Evidence from the China Household Finance Survey
Based on the data of China Household Finance Survey, and with the help of Probit model,Heckprobit model, instrumental variable model and mediating effect model, this paper analyzes the influence and mechanism of farmers'Internet use on the transformation of farmland transfer market. The study finds that Internet use breaks the village acquaintance trust transaction pattern and promotes the non-acquaintance transfer of agricultural land.Mechanism test results show that Internet use encourages farmers to conduct farmland transfer transactions with non-acquaintances for profit motives by improving information acquisition capabilities, enhancing social trust, and improving financial literacy.Heterogeneity analyses finds that Internet use has a significant positive effect on non-acquaintance transfer of farmland for farm households that use mobile Internet and have a high level of education among the head of household, while the effect is not significant for farm households that use traditional Internet and have a low level of education. Therefore,we should improve the construction of Internet infrastructure in rural areas, vigorously develop the"Internet+agricultural land transfer"service system, and pay attention to the training of Internet skills and the improvement of the cultural level of farm households,in order to promote the transformation of the market for the transfer of agricultural land.
