Digital Economy,Cultural Distance and the Export of Chinese Cultural Products—Based on an Empirical Study of 39 Trading Partners
Based on the panel data of China and 39 major cultural trading partners from 2010 to 2021,this paper constructs an extended trade gravity model, and uses the dynamic system generalized method of moments(GMM)and threshold panel regression methods to empirically analyze the impact of digital economy and cultural distance on the export of cultural prod-ucts.The results show that:(1)The digital economy has a significant promotion effect on the export of Chinese cultural products, while the cultural distance has a reverse inhibitory effect.(2)Heterogeneity analysis shows that the promotion effect of digital economy on the export of different types of cultural products is different, among which the promotion effect on audio-visual and interactive media is the largest, and the impact on books and newspapers is not significant.(3)The threshold panel analysis shows that when the cultural distance between China and its trading partners exceeds the threshold value, the promotion effect of digital economy on the ex-port of cultural products changes from significant promotion to insignificant promotion.Based on this, this paper puts forward some suggestions:empowering the development of cultural trade through digital technology, breaking through cultural distance limitations, optimizing the export structure of cultural products, enhancing the discourse power in the formulation of digital trade rules.
