Consumption Potential of China's Provincial Residents:Measurement and Spatial-Temporal Characteristics Analysis
Based on three dimensions of residents'consumption capacity,consumption struc-ture,and consumption environment,a comprehensive evaluation index system for the measure-ment of residents'consumption potential in China was constructed.Provincial panel data from 2012 to 2021 was used to measure the residents'consumption potential and analyze its spatial-temporal differences.The paper found that the overall consumption potential of provincial resi-dents in China is gradually increasing but exhibits significant regional heterogeneity.The four regions in China show a"eastern region→central region→northeast region→western region"step-like distribution pattern of differences.In terms of the three dimensions of residents'con-sumption potential,the comprehensive score of the consumption environment has the highest growth rate,followed by consumption structure,while the comprehensive score of consumption capacity has the smallest growth rate.Regional residents'consumption potential in China shows significant positive global spatial correlation,but there are significant differences in the types of local spatial clustering.
